CCS2025 (Part 5) - 3D Models Update

Happy Friday everyone! Hopefully everyone is doing good today. Our game is almost in a playable state and should be in a readily playable state by the end of the weekend! However, we've still got more to show you all before we get there.

New 3D Models

We recently had our very talented 3D artist Patrick join our team last Fall and while he was getting acclimated to our team and game, he began hard at work sketching out concept ideas for how Pieces would be represented on the board. If you recognized any of the designs from our 2D concept art as well, that's because Patrick was also the one responsible for doing those!

After he drew the first piece of concept art for the Rook, we fell in love with his design and style so much that we completely shifted the idea on how the Rook would be represented in-game to match his concept.

Each piece has been crafted delicately from the front and rear profiles so you can easily identify them by the silhouette on their backs and fronts, making the illusion of the chess piece. While there are still some things we're discussing that are works in progress, such as scale and dimensions of the piece, like the arms and legs, we've been excited to finally implement these into our game.

After giving Patrick some starting points and ideas of how we wanted our 3D style to look, he was extremely diligent in his work and kept us updated all throughout the process. We've been happy to have Patrick join our team recently and to get his models in-game!

We'll be sneaking in one more update next week about everything else to expect at CCS 2025 on June 14th, so look forward to it. As always, thank you for all your support up until this point!
