CCS2025 (Part 4) - Map Generation
Happy Friday everyone! Hopefully everyone is doing good today. We've once again been pretty heads down working hard, so let's talk about our update for this week: Map Generation.
Map Generation
Test assets aside, let's talk about how map generation will work. Very similar to games of the same genre (think Slay the Spire), our map has a certain set of rules it adheres to to make sure that your choices on the map matter. We've gone for a very focused approach on balancing combat and non-combat, ensuring that players have agency to choose game plans that they enjoy and hopefully we're able to motivate players to do runs where combat is an option but not a requirement.
For the event encounters, as we've mentioned before, we're also aiming to make them feel more like Arknights: Integrated Strategies, where the event encounters feel just as fulfilling as a regular battle, with a trade off for rewards, whether it be experience, gold, pieces, etc. We don't want it to be a strict trade, as in you lose something to gain something, but rather an experience that allows you to choose your desired outcome.
We're experimenting a lot lately, as we've decided now is that time to experiment beyond any other time. This is our most ambitious update yet, since we're swerving a bit off the path but hopefully we can still deliver the same gameplay experiences and promises that have made our game popular in the past.
Thank you for all your support up until this point!
